CROSSROADS LIVE UK AND MAGIC MIKE LIVE invite applications for the following London-based fixed-term position:
Head of Sound on Magic Mike Live
From 22nd January 2025 on a one year contract, with potential to extend.
Brief
The Head of Sound is responsible for providing first-class support to the Production, working collaboratively with the Sound Designer and the Sound No.2 to provide sound operation for the Production.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with the Sound Designer and the creative team in sound mixing and show operation using aural, artistic and technical skills.
Supervise the setting up and operating of performances and of general maintenance as required.
Programme and operate sound control systems during rehearsals and performances.
Establish a positive working relationship with the venue staff, technical teams, Production Department and the creative team.
Ensure that the flow of information both within the department and to others is clear, accurate and timely.
Prepare sound equipment for productions and events as required.
Receive, collect and load/off-load sound and ancillary equipment as required, and store equipment in an organized manner.
Ensure that sound and communications equipment used is deployed in a clean, orderly and tidy condition, take appropriate care of all items and ensure that the sound department workshop, control rooms and storage areas are kept clean and tidy.
Prepare and maintain accurate plots and records detailing all aspects of the production and other performance-related equipment to enable the accurate reproduction of the production’s sound requirements.
Create and edit recordings as required for archive and/or distribution.
Ensure that appropriate sound reproduction system back-ups are implemented.
Supervise and train other Sound Department staff to provide show mix cover to a high standard.
Service and maintain sound equipment and infrastructure.
Have a detailed knowledge and awareness of the Production’s Health and Safety policy and procedures.
Ensure that equipment is left in a safe and secure condition at the end of each performance.
Ensure a safe working environment in technical areas and in other areas is maintained.
Any other duties as may be reasonably requested.
Person Specification
Experience of programming and operating digital sound control systems.
Experience of live mixing large-scale theatrical productions including music and line by line speech.
A sympathetic approach to creative concepts and the ability to realise the requirements of the creative team.
Significant proven experience in a professional theatre sound department.
Knowledge of fundamental audio practice and theory.
Experience in stage sound, including the rigging and focusing of speakers, and other equipment.
Experience of using radio microphone systems.
Good communication skills with staff at all levels.
Ability to work well under pressure.
