Magic Mike Live cast put WWE duo Pretty Deadly through their paces as temperatures soar
Extravagant routines, baby oil and lots of bare chests – the worlds of WWE and Magic Mike Live aren’t actually too far apart.
To put that to the test, NXT UK Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly swapped the wrestling ring for the West End as they headed to London’s Hippodrome Casino to tread the boards with the stars of Channing Tatum’s racy stage show.
As WWE superstars, Lewis Howley and Sam Stoker are no strangers to getting physical, but they had their work cut out for them with this.
BT Sport was on hand to capture all the steamy action last week, with Pretty Deadly getting involved with the Magic Mike dancers during rehearsals before delivering the infamous routine in some serious style.
One of the cast joked the tag team made the theatre ‘look small’, and the boys made sure to give it their all as they first took in the dancers themselves showing them how it’s done.
In the video, Sam quipped: ‘Which is the lap dance seat?’
As they watched the experts, Sam and Lewis – who even tried their hand at The Routine from Friends during the rehearsals – couldn’t help but compare their own hulking figures to the ripped dancers.
‘The difference between us and them? Obviously we’re more trim, probably slightly better bodies,’ Lewis joked, as Sam laughed: ‘They could’ve worked out!’
Despite being used to brutal bodyslams in the ring, Pretty Deadly were shocked by the physical nature of Magic Mike Live on stage.
Sam added: ‘We talk a lot in the WWE about the risk of injury, and how just because it’s performance, doesn’t mean it’s not dangerous. I think my wrist will tell you today, it’s exactly the same with Magic Mike. I’m struggling!’
When it came to the routine itself, the boys smashed it alongside the cast, who were impressed with how quickly the champs were able to get to grips with the moves and blend in with the pros.
‘We just hope none of the boys are good friends of yours, because in the morning, I think two of them might be out of a job,’ Lewis teased.
The pair were glad to try something new and they’re more than open to more challenges – but they suggested there is more to explore when it comes to combining Magic Mike Live and WWE.
‘If there’s one thing we do, it’s entertain the WWE Universe,’ Sam explained. ‘And I think there’s a Magic Mike Universe out there we wanna enter. Let’s make that multiverse happen.’
Yes, boy!
